- Mr. Smith joined Nomura in November 2021 as Managing Director and Americas Chief Risk Officer and Global Head of Portfolio Risk. Prior to joining Nomura, he was at JP Morgan for 24 years where he was a Managing Director responsible for Firmwide Principal Risk, Risk Appetite and Risk Identification. Mr. Smith previously held other senior roles in Risk Management at JP Morgan including the Risk Executive responsible for the Global Credit Portfolio. Mr. Smith has extensive expertise in areas encompassing derivatives, both market and credit risk and portfolio management. Mr. Smith started his career in 1991 with Exxon Company, USA as a Senior Engineer. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Tulane University.
