- Biography
- Stephen oversees emerging and key market risk trends, concentrations, and measures across the enterprise. His team is responsible for independent risk management and monitoring of all the risks of the Global Markets business, supporting the annual CCAR (Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review) process, managing the risk framework for counterparty risk, financial markets utilities, including central clearing counterparties, and Global Markets financings. Stephen works with the Bank of America Board and Management Committee to report and manage market risks. As the CRO for International, Stephen is responsible for risk coverage across the international regions and is an International Management Committee member. From June 2020 to June 2023, Stephen was also responsible for independent risk management and monitoring of all risks for the CFO Group as well as overseeing the key liquidity, capital, and interest rate risks of the enterprise. From March 2017 to March 2019, Stephen was the Risk Executive for Global Markets Financing & Counterparty Credit Risk for Global Risk Management. In this role he was responsible for the review and challenge of financing requests from our ABS Finance, Mortgage Finance, Equity Stock Finance, Hedge Fund Finance and Prime Brokerage counterparties. He also led the risk governance for Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR), Central Clearing Counterparties and Financial Market Utilities as well as overseeing the Internal Models Method (IMM) and broader CCR change programs. Prior to that, Stephen was Commercial Real Estate Risk Executive for Global Risk Management where he was responsible for leading risk management coverage for all commercial real estate lending activities, including the Commercial Real Estate Banking and Real Estate Structured Finance businesses globally. Stephen joined the bank in 2015. Prior to joining the bank, he led credit and market risk teams for securitized products, including commercial real estate lending, at Credit Suisse. Concurrently, he served as co-head of market risk for the Americas region and directed the bank’s intraday risk management initiative. He also previously spent time at Nomura in director and management roles for American subsidiaries, and Coopers & Lybrand in real estate advisory services and audit. Stephen has a Master of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.
